Prompt: puppy love
Watson sighed. He loved the Christmas holidays, but their household was recently reduced, and though he would never admit it, he was still feeling a bit mournful.
After all, what was Christmas dinner without an elderly bulldog roaming beneath the table and wheezing hopefully for titbits?
“John?” Mary called from the parlour. “It’s time to open the gifts.”
He expected no more than the usual trifles, but the cushion in front of the fire bore something considerably more, and after the laughter and the face-washing, the pup snored comfortably on his boots, and Watson kissed his wife for thanks.
