The whir of her wheelchair’s motor made him turn, and he returned her lopsided smile. “It smells good,” she told him, her words slurred but her voice warm.
“Of course. I was taught by the best.” David took his seat, and started cutting up her dinner.
Yes, he might regret those refused invitations, but some things were more important.
