December 3

A little melancholy.

Fandom: Inception
Prompt: none

The porcelain figures were fragile, but he held them firmly despite the fine tremor in his hands.  Miles placed the last sheep next to the stable and straightened to look at his handiwork, feeling a small body press against his leg.

“It’s so pretty, Gran’pere,” Philippa said, voice soft as if she feared to wake the sleeping Baby.

“It was your mother’s,” Miles answered, resting a hand on her bright head and remembering Mal’s delight at the crèche, new decades ago.

Philippa sighed.  “I miss her.”

Miles bent to gather her in.  “I, too,” he whispered, and closed his eyes.

It's a season for remembering, too, and you evoke this bittersweetness so well.

Beautiful, even if it does hold a hint of sadness.

And I want Mal to be remembered.

Thank you!

This...
...he held them firmly despite the fine tremor in his hands.
This phrase stayed with me - such a clear image in my head of those hands.

Beautifully done. Thank you so much for sharing this. *hugs*

I don't care much about Michael Caine one way or the other, but he did a superb job in this one.

Thank you! *hugs back*

Oh I like Michael Caine and agreed, he was a good choice for that character in Inception.
Nice little ficlet and yes, a tad :(

Glad you liked it!

I'd love to know who supplied the voice for the grandmother...
