Hmmm...

I was thinking...what's the oddest AU CSI fic you've ever read?  Particularly G/S, but not necessarily.  I don't mean so bad that it's AU--I mean so good that it's believable AU.  And not just a simple what-if fic like "what if Grissom accepted Sara's dinner invite in Play With Fire"--I mean something strange, something you'd never thought of, something they'd never even think of showing on screen, and yet is worthy of it.

Any thoughts?

Best GSR AU IMHO (I <3 netspeak) - Castles in the Air by Lasrevinu. I have a feeling you've heard of it though. Sara adopts Brenda - the little girl played by Dakota Fanning (can't remember which eppy or season though) and switches to dayshift in order to be more of a 'mom'. It was totally AU and totally believable at the same time. The GSR was the stuff of dreams. I'm not even sure if she has finished it, but it's fantastic.

Heard, definitely! Haven't read, though, since I try to avoid WsIP. But it sounds very good. I often have trouble seeing Sara as a voluntary mother, but if it's done well...

The best one I've read is the new WIP [livejournal.com profile] csishewolf has up on her journal, "Eldorado."

When it's done, I think it will be a classic :)

I've heard of that one too. :D I'm looking forward to its finishing!

I pick Cincoflex's NIP. I am a sucker (heehee) for vampire TV shows, movies, and books, so when I saw the first part NIP posted, I just knew I HAD to read it. While something like that would NEVER happen on the show, it was totally believable.

Great idea!

Ooh, yeah, that's a good 'un! And totally believable. Sara's "death" made me cry, and I never do that over fic.

Hmm, have you seen "Forever Knight", by chance?

I have to say "Eleanor Rigby". I read the fic before I really became a fan of Brass or CSI (I was on the cusp) but after reading it, I was completely in love with Brass. The way you and Cinco wrote these two characters--the way you initially brought them together and then slowly made them fall in love--was just so perfect. You two totally made me believe that this pairing really could (and should) happen.

*blush* I wouldn't even have thought of that one as a stretchy sort of AU, but I guess it is now. He is a darling, isn't he? One of the best things that's happened to me lately is Cinco's invitation to write with her.

The oddest AU is the one I'm reading now by Miss Grits and it has Grissom being an independent contractor work for the LV Lab and meeting Sara who is working as a bartender at a strip club. It has Sara dropping out of school at 15 and goes on from there. It is really good story telling and quite believeable. It post under geekfiction on live journal. Have you read it? anne

In spite of its out-there premise, I found myself buying into a very NC-17 fanfic where Grissom and Sara switch bodies. It was by a well-known author, and was unfinished... that's pretty much all I remember.

that was Suzy Shippergirl's story, and I remember it because she was co-writing it with Anansay!

I've heard of that, but since it's not finished it's not on my list--sounds fascinating, though! I remember reading a L&O:CI fic done that way, and done quite well.
