Nov. 5th, 2008 09:01 pmI'm sleeeepy after staying up too late to watch the election results (and glee about it afterwards) last night. So a few minutes ago I went out to the gas station in front of my apartment building to buy a Coke.
The man behind the counter, who I think is originally from the Middle East, was talking to a black customer whose accent hinted at the Caribbean. The cashier was congratulating the customer on making history last night. The customer thanked him, saying that he did his part in voting, and going on to mention how happy people in other nations seemed to be with Obama's win. They were both happy and enthused, and I could only agree with them as I paid for my drink.
"Only in America," the cashier kept saying. But I hope that's not true.
Yeah, we made history. Now we gotta make it the future too.
