"Find the nearest book to you, turn to page 45, and read the first sentence: this describes your sex life in 2012."
Since I don't have a sex life, this is purely for amusement purposes. And it's plenty amusing. I'm sitting right next to a full bookcase, so nearest doesn't exactly apply. Have a selection.
The lady in black and her friend had always been very fond of the Città Vecchia. -- Which is eh enough, except that the book was published in 1897. Giovanni and the Other, Frances Hodgson Burnett
Anne's stunning announcement put my brain on HOLD. -- *snerk* Who's Anne? Magnificat, Julian May (the UK paperback)
Who was that man? -- *howls with laughter* Tales of the Restoration, David & Karen Mains, Ill. Diana Magnuson
New species these days tend to be invertebrates. -- Now that's just disturbing. Swimming with Piranhas at Feeding Time, Richard Conniff
"You'll never make a jeweller," he whispered to her. -- Well, no, probably I won't! The Door into Sunset, Diane Duane
And that's enough of that.

I do keep coming back to That can be my next tweet for the sheer amusement of it, but since I am annoyed by LJ posts of tweets, I shall put this behind a cut.

May. 4th, 2011 10:47 pmI don't think I've ever so much as picked up an Iron Man comic book in my life--I was completely uninterested in the character before the previews for the first movie showed up. So I've never seen this image before (courtesy of this Tumblr):
--but it fits Ch. 15 of Green Laurel perfectly.
I am amused. :P

Aug. 11th, 2008 04:35 pmI went to my credit union today, nothing out of the ordinary, but they're renovating so everything is changed around. I could see over the counter to the drawers on the other side. And was deeply amused to see, among drawers labeled "General Supplies" and "Business Cards", one labeled simply "Lollipops".

Apr. 27th, 2008 01:04 amOkay, I have other opinions about the Ninth Doctor, many of them centering around Dalek. I am only partway through the first new-series season, given a lack of cable (thank you, public television). But I just watched The Doctor Dances (dumb title) and Rose tells him he's beaming like Father Christmas. His response is "Who says I'm not, red bicycle when you were twelve?".
I have long maintained that Santa Claus is a Time Lord. *beam*

Jan. 7th, 2008 08:21 pmHow did I never notice before that the Sheriff of Nottingham is in the Max Headroom TV-movie? This is big. *snerk* Yet more proof that the universe is not only stranger than we imagine, but stranger than we can imagine.
