Tea and Dragons

Chapter 12 of Karma is up, or shortly will be, here or here.  An event about which I would feel better if I hadn't been allergying for three days now.  *sigh*

Chapter 11 of Karma is now up. Which means I need to start work on the next one...

I am...tempted. Toshiba, naughty company, sent me a catalog in the mail, and they're offering a laptop for $599 after rebate, along with three freebies to go with it. And one of those no-payments-until-next-year deals. My laptop is almost two years old and is getting a little tricksy; I would loooooove to have a new one, over and above the fun of having a new toy to play with. The trouble is, I can spend the money on a laptop, or Christmas presents (no real question there); it's the offer of delaying payment that makes me drool. I know I shouldn't do it, I really do. But oh... I've been planning on buying a new battery for mine, but it costs about $100, and what if the laptop decides it's time to die?

*sigh* I can just throw out the catalog, I suppose.

Meanwhile, I'm working on Karma again. I'm trying a new trick (for me) and am focusing on writing 500 words per day. If the muse cooperates, that means I'll finish the chapter sometime next week (Saturday's not going to offer any writing time). Onward into the breach, dear Jim!

This was actually posted on Saturday, but frustration and a severe allergy attack kept me from doing more than the essentials until now. Chapter 9 of Karma is now posted.

I finally, finally posted Chapter 8 of Karma. I apologize deeply for the delay.

That was a strong cold, but fortunately the worst seems to be over quickly. One day off and I'm not doing so badly. I still want to slice up my brother for deli meat for giving it to me, though. Not so much the infection per se, as the whoop of amusement he let out when he heard that I'd caught it.

Hm, he'd make a lot of sandwiches, at that.

Real progress on Karma! I think I'm in the homestretch. And the start on something silly, but it will probably be a private one for someone in particular. If it works all the way through. I never know if something's going to conk out on me in the middle.

I've made more progress on Karma, though I'm not moving anywhere near as fast as I'd like. This chapter is so late it's deeply embarrassing. The only thing I can say is "if the Muse isn't cooperating..." Sometimes I'd like to be a little less of the inspired writer and a little more of the disciplined one. *sigh*

However, progress. Even if I have to give up on the image of Jim Brass in dress blues. Yum.

I worked some on Karma today, but at the moment I am concentrating on something more technical. Would anyone be interested in audio versions of some of my stories? They wouldn't be high-quality recordings, but the idea seriously intrigues me.

I'm thinking audio files on the site, not CDs!

Seems like I make a lot of them. But my antihistamine made it very hard to stay awake, let alone do anything productive.

However, a major source of stress in my recent life has been relieved, and I intend to post Ch. 3 of HTTM tomorrow. And work on Karma, darn it.
