Santa Claus (I Still Believe in You), Alabama, Alabama Christmas
Yes, it's hokey and obvious and all that, but I still like it. 'Cause, to many, it's also true.
It does annoy me slightly that the toys are all gendered, so to speak, but the album dates from 1998 and the song's probably older than that. Still, it does get tiring. I have several variations on Run Rudolph Run, and while the boy's desire is a "rock and roll electric guitar", the girl's desire is a baby doll--and sometimes the latter is sung in a distinctly mocking fashion. Hey, people, there's nothing wrong with variation, but there's also nothing wrong with a girl wanting a doll either. *eyeroll*
Is there a version out there where it's the girl who wants the guitar? I'll even settle for the boy wanting a traditionally male toy, though what of those would rhyme with "get" I don't know...
