Oct. 20th, 2006 03:31 amUgh, forgot to cut this! Sorry.
Um...don’t nuns cut their hair short under the wimple? I know they don’t all wear wimples, but the two first shown were.
It’s good to see Robbins out of the morgue again!
Greg still bruised, nice to see some continuity even if it’s rough on him. Now where’s Sara?
Oh, I don’t like the priest, not one bit. Unclean somehow.
Since when is Catherine Catholic? I mean, no reason she couldn’t be, but they didn’t make a point of it before. Though Episcopalians cross themselves too, I believe.
Ah, there’s our girl. Huh, I guess the victim isn’t a nun--fingernail polish.
Hah, she didn’t even look around--oh, love the flirting! And she’s not fazed by him rushing off, cool.
Oh, Warrick, you are just so cute. Lanky guys on ladders, yum.
Biiiig spider...
Bright boy still has a rosary? NO DEAR?? Eeek!
Oh--belonged to his mother--is she not alive to own them any longer?
Nope, don’t like him at all. Smarmy somehow.
Bull. --No, cow. Snerk!
Aw, poor Greg. Not fun getting treated differently from before.
Sofia is really looking pretty good tonight--the blue suits her.
I almost like the sleazy club owner. He’s amusing.
Brass is looking downright dapper too.
Those rosaries look too short to strangle anyone.
“...Not to fight in church”? Oh, Jimmy, I love you.
The nuns are getting to me, though. Could they be any more stereotypical? The young cute one, the old sour one...
Smart cop! A towel to keep fingerprints off the hammer.
They’re really making a point of those memory cards for the cameras.
Sacrifices? Is that an anvil? Oh dear.
Um. Backlighting is dramatic, sure, but it does make your ears stick out, Jim.
Ah, a good old-fashioned Griss/Brass argument.
“A child is always welcome”--I like that.
That was an anvil at the end, I’ll bet.
All in all, a good ep, with a nice little bit of GSR to keep things going. But if this was supposed to be a heavy one for Grissom, I don't think it succeeded. He doesn't look like he's building towards burnout to me.

Date: 2006-10-20 10:22 am (UTC)I personally don't think Catherine is or was Catholic. I thought the way she crossed herself was a bit sketchy (it was done correctly, I just don't think it was done like someone who's done is a millian times). I looked much more like someone who knew what to do...though I did like her lighting a candle for Sam.
Also, it seemed unusual to me that those banks of candles were unlit. Almost every church I've been in replaces candles in the banks as they burn out, which would leave some candles always burning. And matches? Never seen that. There are usually long sticks in a cup or in sand that you light from a burning candle to light your own. That whole thing jumped out at me because it was so at odds with my personal experience.
The other thing that bugged me was the lack of other religious at the church. First of all, for a church of that size, there would have to be several priests available just to serve the needs of the parish. Where were they? And, I think Fater Berlin was a bit young to have that big a church...he would more likely be part of the staff, but not the pastor.
And why was there a single nun and a novice at this church? Where were the other sisters?
I'm not an expert by any means, but I've been around enough churches in enough parishes to wonder about this stuff.
I just loved the interaction between Grissom and Sara, especially when he was nattering about what he believes...I don't think he's all that comfortable talking about it, myself. :)
No, Dear? SQUEEEEEEEEEE!
And I agree about burnout...looks pretty well rested to me :)
It's early and that's all I've got at the moment.

Date: 2006-10-20 12:08 pm (UTC)I wanted to see what else was in that drawer of Grissom's, besides the big spider. That sort of thing fascinates me--the effluvia of personal mementos, you know?

a staple puller, one of those big pre-inked stamps with a rubber band on it, a small animal skull, a green eyeball novelty, some multilegged gray object yet to be determined, turtle shell, possibly pens...
:)
