This was cincoflex 's bunny--I just chased it.  :D  Sorry about the double fandom post, but I'm too wiped to come up with anything else just now.

Fandom: Iron Man
Prompt: Tony/Rhodes friendship, really





He had really expected Tony to refuse.  The kid hadn’t cracked a smile since... well, since, and Jim had figured out that he had nobody left but Mr. Stane.  Depression, thy name was Stark, though for sure it was justified.     

But the carefully casual “Hey, you want to come home with me for the break?” lit Tony’s face up for a second that took Jim’s breath away, before it closed back down.     

“Sure.  I--I’ve got nothing better to do.”     

Jim hid his smile and turned away, satisfied.  Note to self-- tell Mom to set another place at Christmas dinner.
