One of the things that really annoy me: companies that call and try to put me on hold as soon as I pick up.  No.  That's rude.  Have a live person on the other end, or don't call at all.  If I call, I'm prepared to spend time on hold, but don't demand it of me when I didn't initiate the call. 

Sheesh.

I tend to hang up when that happens. "Oh, we must have got cut off," I say, all sweetness and innocence.

And then there are the telemarketers who call and leave a huge time gap before saying anything. If I hear continued silence after I say 'hello', I hang up. If I'm in a really bad mood, however, I'll stay on the line until someone starts talking...my phone number is feared in many quarters.

I find that politesse is a spinal reflex with me now, unfortunately, unless I'm really mad--and even then guilt sets in as the words emerge from my mouth. I just hang up and usually they don't call back, at least right away. I admire your fortitude!

Glad the cards reached you! Sorry it took me so long, I had to find them in the pit that is my apartment. As my college roomies used to say, it looks like the goat exploded. We did have an absolute blast, though!

Where do you want to go next? I'm still jealous that you got to stay overnight at Mont St. Michel!

I'm not sure. I'd like to explore France some more, maybe go to Spain. Lately I've been checking out some options for island hopping in Greece.

Of course, that's neither here nor there. I'm not going anywhere for a long while. Worth it, but still...

I'd love to see bits of Greece too, though I doubt Corfu is the same as it was in "My Family and Other Animals". I want to see Italy...
