Okay.  Why, if I have my air conditioning unit almost at max and a fan on me, am I still sweating?  I honestly don't think the machine is working properly, not when the unairconditioned stairwell is notably cooler than my apartment. 

Argh.

I feel your pain. I have no air conditioning, and I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

I grew up in this exact same area without AC, but that didn't mean I wasn't miserable doing it. I don't know how you stand that.
