My mother doesn't watch TV.  She knows about my writing but is of the firm opinion that I should write for money instead; she doesn't seem to get the idea that my odds of actually making a profit are very low, but never mind that. 

When I found out about the, um, correlation between my story and the latest ep of CSI, I told her about it, laughing the whole time. 

She's mad.  Thinks that the network is ripping me off.  *headshake* 

I've tried to explain to her the rather grey area that fanfiction occupies, legally, but she refuses to see the humor in this.  I don't know whether to laugh harder or just sigh. 

Oh well.  Moms are fierce that way sometimes.

Mothers are not to be messed with under most circumstances, especially those involving offspring. Lots of head nodding and "yes, Mother"s are generally the only safe avenue. (I think its kinda cute actually.)

Legalities aside, they are ripping you, and a bunch of other fanfic writers, off. They're getting paid an obscene amount of money to write episodes. The very least they could do is not make it so bloody obvious that they're stealing their plots from fanfic.

Well, yes, and you're one of them. But I choose to be flattered and laugh, because honestly, what else am I gonna do? Besides, in my case, it could just be coincidence--I'm pleased to think otherwise but I have no proof.
