A rarity

Wow, it's been a while.  Eh, I've been slightly unwell--no, not an ovarian cyst, but let's just say when it comes to antibiotics the cure can be almost as bad as the disease.  *eyeroll*

I just went outside for the first time since last night.  It's still snowing but barely.  And it's quiet.  That's the weirdest thing.  The ever-present traffic, even the cars passing at three in the morning, is silenced.  It's not just the snow's hush.  It's not something I ever thought to experience.

I found only one feral, Dipper the kitten.  The shelter I set out last night was completely buried, fortunately with no one in it, but when I called I heard mewing, and eventually saw the little 'un in the semi-cave formed by a large snow-laden bush.  The ground beneath is actually almost snow-free; the stuff's so heavy that it's formed a roof.  I dropped him (?) down some food, and he looks okay, not even snow-matted.

I think he'll be all right.  It's not that cold, really; it's been colder this winter.  It's just that there's no place to go.  I wonder why people are shoveling out their cars...everything's closed.  The unbroken snow was up past my knees, and when I tripped, I didn't really fall.

I should tag this Snowbiggie or something.  Hmph.

Well, personally I dug out my car a little this morning because it's only going to be harder and heavier work as this snow settles. Might as well get it out of the way a bit at a time. ;-)

I'd feel more sympathetic towards these folks if they weren't dumping the snow in the parking lot, rendering it unplowed, or on top of other cars that haven't been shoveled out yet. It's not like they don't have other places to put the snow. But then, who am I to talk--I don't have one! :D

Fair enough. :) I dumped the snow into an empty space, onto the grass, and behind someone's 2nd car that they said they didn't need.

Yeah, that, and anyway shoveling makes a change in the workout routine.

They're undoing the plowing in the parking lot as they go--but that only means they have to drive over it. I'm grateful I don't have a car to dig out at the moment!

I haven't seen any of the local cats today, although the feeders were covered in birds. They probably found a little snow cave somewhere and decided to stay warm in their mini-igloos.

The snow is going to start melting a little tomorrow and then it's going to freeze overnight. Much easier to dig out a car before it becomes an overgrown ice cube.

How are you feeling? I know all about problems with antibiotics. :S

Four kittens today, being hopeful at me--and they are getting out, there're pawprints on the snow.

Eh, I'm okay. I've finally finished the prescriptions, but things will take a bit to get back to normal, I guess...

I'm hope you are feeling better.

It has been so lovely and quiet.
I couldn't get to sleep because I enjoyed the quiet so much.
I stayed up reading. So peaceful.

Glad the feral was okay.

Pretty much, thanks for the thought!

We're back to some traffic, but I get used to it. *grin*

Hey, you're a friend. I actually have been worrying about you as you have been very quiet even for you. *hugs*

Are you ready for more snow :)

I've seen lots of pictures of the capital in the last few days but it was interesting to hear you talk about the quiet. It's amazing how much noise creeps into our daily lives isn't it. After awhile we don't even miss it do we. I'm glad that the kitten was snug and warm. You're a great blessing to care for them. Out of the 6 cats that I owned 5 of then were adopted because they were strays. I wish that there was a way to help them all. I'm down to 3 of my own, 3 having passed on from old age. My ex-daughter-in law has 2 and one of those she and my son found in a parking lot.
I hope you didn't have to go to work today and can enjoy the snow without having to drive in it.
Take care, anne

Hey, you're one of the blessed among felinity, to take them in. My two indoor girls aren't quite rescues per se, but I took them when the lady who had them no longer could keep them, so we circumvented a shelter, so to speak.

Heh, haven't been to work since last Friday. No car anyway! :P
