Snabbled from [livejournal.com profile] aj --

Reasons I read/write fanfic: to fix things.  Over and over and over again, occasionally to the irritation of some.  To make things come out the way they should.  To give a character the happiness that they deserve.

Also, sometimes, to explore ideas we don't see on screen.  To see the other side of things.  Or just for a laugh (CSI/ST:TOS crossover, yeah).

How's about you?

Man, fandom is a small world! I didn't know you knew [livejournal.com profile] aj. I remember her from some of my previous fandoms - funnily enough, none of the ones you and I share or have shared. *grin*

Well, we don't have actual conversations, but yeah, Iron Man fandom. :D And WOW can she write. *waves away smoke*

No kidding. *grin* Her SGA stories are some of my favourite in the whole fandom. She's just that good - and so are you! *squish*

Seems like filling time might also be a good reason in the case of CSI. I'm still boggled at the concept of NINE years until that first GSR kiss. Because seriously?? It was NINE??! That's the kind of timeline that had me wandering away from X-Files early, rolling my eyes at the lack of action. I mean there's UST and then there's just stupid. LOL.

Oh, there was plenty of stupid, but there was some character growth too. *grin* And think of all the opportunities for fic! I actually got into it just before the fourth season, though, so I didn't have to wait as long as the original fans.

Heh, that may explain how come you managed to stick with it so much later than I did - I came in right at the start, so years of waiting made me frustrated...

Could be! To think, I only watched it because there wasn't any good sci-fi on. :P

I write fanfiction because YOU inspired me. Mnemosyne's Lock was the first fanfic I had read since my mini-obsession with the X-Files years ago. Your writing leaves me in awe and brings me much happiness. I had an English teacher in high school who always said the best writers make their readers want to write... you fit that bill for me.

*blush* That is possibly one of the nicest compliments I've ever received. I'm very honored to be your inspiration--and I'm glad that you are writing, because you spin wonderful, sweet plots and great characterization. (I'm behind on reviews but I intend to catch up.) Fandom is sometimes a marvelous infection!

I mainly got into reading fanfic for the same reason to fix things.
