A Musical Advent, Day Two

This is a very saucy piece if one listens closely. We tend to think of Santa Claus as a sexless character, for oh so many reasons, but this song plays up his appeal on several levels, and it's great fun as well as unusual. Apparently Mr. Connick wrote it, but it's Mr. Barbarin who takes the role of Santa, and his sly humor is spot-on.
Far from slender/How lucky Mrs. Claus is Hee!
Everyone's got crushes/Someone call a copper
Everybody blushes/For the big show-stopper
It's a sort of mirror-view, in a way, but still very accurate.

Date: 2011-12-05 01:40 am (UTC)Gotta love Harry's voice, although Neil Baby is always stealing my heart away with his. Speaking of Neil, he's coming to the Verizon Center in DC on June 14th, and I think I'm grabbing a ticket in the morning when they go on sale. I'll be in town to see my nephew get married that weekend.
