I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day, Casting Crowns, Peace on Earth

A new take on a classic, with some slightly different lyrics here and there and definitely an arrangement that John Baptiste Calkin never dreamed of, but I think it does the poem justice.  It doesn't quite have the anguish of a more traditional form, but perhaps it has more hope instead.

Also, the main singer sounds a bit like someone from Barenaked Ladies, which I only know because I have the BN Christmas album (and don't care all that much for it either).

Bells aren't something I've heard a lot of, at least church bells--I can't think of a church within earshot that has even one, though the closest plays tunes through steeple speakers (ick) on occasion.  When I was in Bath I saw a flyer advertising for classes to learn how to ring church bells, and I was tempted--what a wonderfully esoteric skill!--but after reading Robin McKinley's accounts of her trials I think I'm just as glad I never got around to it.  I don't remember hearing any bells in Bath, either, but I was at the extreme edge of the town.

There was a brief time in my life when I rang handbells, but I didn't enjoy it.
