I seem to have ferals again.  Two fluffy tux kits and the delicately gorgeous dilute tortie that's been around off and on over the past year.  Every time I think they're gone they pop up again.

Tonight, I also saw the rather large (for a feral) Siamese I've seen once before.  He (?) may be a mix, but I don't think so.  I also don't think he's a true feral--my guess is lost or dumped.

He won't come near me, but he was some distance away looking hungrily at the others eating, so I put out some of the same dry food for him, and as soon as I was far enough away he went for it.  So I came back with a can of food, and put it in the same place, and not only did he not do more than retreat, he kept looking from the canned food he was devouring to me.  He was thinking.

I am more worried about him.  The others are long-hairs; even if he is a feral, his coat is no match for the wind tonight.

When I was a kid, we always had a Siamese cat. My grandmother had them until the day she died and my aunt always had one. For a while there I thought we could only ever have a Siamese cat. From my experience with them, they are very loud (talkative) and can be a tad high strung but they are also very smart, very loyal, and make great companions.

Since most ferals generally don't have a pedigree, I also doubt he's a true feral. If you're worried about him surviving the cold, is it possible to put a box outside for him (hide it in the bushes), maybe wrap it in a dark hefty bag to keep it dry and toss in some old towels or blankets for warmth and then lure him inside with food? I did that for our stray, Pudgey, several years ago and now when it's cold outside she knows to go and get in her box.

I have done something like that in the past, when it was snowing, but it'll most likely just get picked up in the morning as trash by Maintenance, and I have to keep a low profile when it comes to feral activities. The bushes don't have enough leaves to hide much at the moment.

I know, I could go out every morning and pick it up myself, but I know me in the mornings and it just ain't gonna happen...I'm lucky if I can get out the door in time to catch the bus, most days.
