The plane was too hot, alas, though we got to sit together, three and two. I felt sorry for my father, who doesn't fit well in plane seats (well, none of us do really except for my sister-in-love). The food was surprisingly edible but I got off overheated, underslept, dehydrated, and irritable.
Train, Metro, up, down, my arms will hurt tomorrow but thank You Lord for a muscled brother willing to tote! And who knows his way around. Difficulties compounded by the stop we wanted being closed to our line. But the path took us past the Tower.
Afternoon--
We're staying at a tiny little hôtel with a tiny elevator (and why a red fuzzy heart mirror on the back wall?) and a silly bathroom, but cute and comfortable and it has a SHOWER. I was starting to smell funny. No screens on the windows but the air is fresh and sweet. We found a boulangerie (ham & cheese! at last!) and I bought carte-postals and crashed for a nap.

Evening--
Dinner with the family with whom my brother stayed ten years ago during his semester at the Sorbonne. Interesting of course! Three kids in jammies; they went to bed after canapes, conversation, and champagne. The M. serves the only champagne I ever kind of like--it's sweeter. I remembered some of their flat but not all of it.
The poor girls had to kiss us goodnight, but the boy was too shy. Dinner was rice, and seafood in sauce--good except for the scallop I encountered. Smelly cheese, much discussion, ice creams and pastries for dessert. We got there just after eight and left after midnight--a cool, sprinkly, fresh midnight.
I love the fact that the Mètro has dispensing machines. My Nestle Crunch variation was quite good (ah, European chocolate) and an experience worth repeating.
I was not informed until this afternoon that we are leaving Paris tomorrow morning. Sigh.
