vr_trakowskiWell, Mom didn't have allergies--she had a cold, and she gave it to me. I woke up sick. Actually I didn't sleep well--dreams and, I realize in retrospect, fever. No appetite at breakfast (!). Everyone took off, and I turned on the TV for noise and read Peter Mayle.
My fever, which was not high, did break and I felt better. My brother took me to the pharmacy before he left but they apparently had no cough suppressant.
I was eating some cheese this afternoon when a cat stuck his head in the front door gate and meowed. He came right over to me and purred--a scruffy swollen tom, very sweet and delighted to be petted. And to have some cheese. I eventually put him out with another bit of cheese because I was afraid he'd mark the furniture, but he seemed to know how to behave indoors--he certainly knew what a kitchen was for!
Sausage and artichokes for dinner. I wish I could have tasted the sausage better. Unfortunately the cat arrived twice on the terrace during dinner. I scratched him until he discovered the sausage, then lured him out the front with a spoonful of butter. Alas that he didn't take the hint--I was made to shoo him out quickly the second time.
