*laughter*  Should I ask for royalties, or just be flattered?

Heh, I was beginning to suspect something when I saw the previews...

When I saw the previews I thought, THEY HIRED VR TO WRITE!! Wouldn't that be too sweet? Or they stole your story! Royalties baby, royalties.

I WISH, even though I doubt I could write a decent script. Think they pay moving expenses? *grin*

I have my VCR set, I'm looking forward to the ep.

Oh, they'd HAVE to move you! I don't know about you but I would love to spend some time in the So. Cal. sun right about now. The old saying that Washingtonians don't tan they rust is oh so true. We aren't just rusty, we have a healthy coat of mold too. We really need a summer this year!

*sigh* I'd prefer Northern California, but I'd take whatever I could get...

I hear ya. I prefer the pace of Northern Cal. but right now I need sun. I can hang out quietly while everyone rushes around me.

Now that you're writing for CSI could I send you my resume?

Hee! I have often thought we should all take over the writing there!

I was totes thinking the same thing. lol. Perhaps the writers spent the strike reading fanfics? Stealing ideas... Then they showed the saint around the neck and I was all omg! VR is being stalked by TPTB! xD

But I gotta say... I like yours better.

*grin* Thanks! Well, they can have 'em--they let me play in the backyard, after all.

Go for the royalties! I was relatively unspoiled for this episode, and I thought of your story immediately. :D

Life imitating art, huh? I didn't watch it, but. . .it's really scary sometimes how these things occur. I'm not sure if I should say. . .congrats? LOL!

I'd love one, but I'm not at a computer ever where I an d/l stuff and keep it. But if ya wanna send the ep and a copy of the story for comparison? I'd be all over that :) Up to you :)

yes, well... hmmm... I finally managed to force myself past the annoying vacuum cleaner chick and actually watch the end of the ep, and also managed to read the two chapters of DtS that I hadn't seen yet (as a break while vacuum cleaner chick was paused), so now I feel I can adequately post here.

I did have an overwhelming sense of deja vu throughout the first half of the ep... except I kept wondering where the heck Sara was.

DtS is infinitely better though. 1) No annoying vacuum cleaner chick; 2) No over the top Cath!Angst. 3) Sara.

Grissom as calm lab influence was nice and slightly less stressful than Tortured!Grissom in jail, but it lacks the depth of DtS. Also, so over the top that I couldn't really even feel for the girl until the very end, then I felt bad for the whole family. Granted they only had 45 min, but if they had cut out red herring annoying vacuum cleaner chick, they probably could have added a lot more meaningful depth... Sure, have a red herring, but why her? Poor Brass.... he always gets those interviews.

Anyway, kudos to you! and definitely feel flattered. Imitation and all that...

I have the sneaking suspicion that VCC is outside the scope of my imagination. Thanks though! Not one of their best episodes. I'll always vote for more Brass time, though!

Now you have me wondering why VCC was there in the first place...

Date: 2008-04-12 11:38 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] plkphoto.livejournal.com
This is something you should be grateful for... We definitely don't need any more annoying VCC-type characters running around. Once was more than enough! I love Brass! I just wish we didn't have 5 min of VCC before he got a chance to say anything...

Yeah, I can see them needing to have an unstable chick as the guys girlfriend, but did we really need 10 min of her? and twice too!

Aside: You'll probably notice that my sense of timing is totally off where she's concerned. I kept pausing the ep so I could rant about her inaneness and then forcing myself to watch further just in case there was something important there.

:-)

Hee! Did you have someone to rant to? I wonder (again) what the writers were smoking...

From: [identity profile] plkphoto.livejournal.com
No, unfortunately (or fortunately, from his perspective), my partner was out of town on business at the time...

I definitely prefer DtS! You would think the writers had all sorts of time during the strike to have GOOD plot bunnies nipping at them and time to weed out the bad ones, but... guess not! I don't see how they could just turn off that side of their brain even if they weren't writing it... I sure can't!

Go for the royalties.

Serously though, your fic is so much better. I really didn't enjoy this episode. Catherine annoyed me more than usual and half the the episode didn't make sense.

Spoilers about the plot came out before Down to Sleep began, at least the spoilers I accessed. I'd wondered if you'd based Down to Sleep on the spoilers, actually.

I actually started writing it back in November, so 'fraid not! It was an idea I'd wanted to explore for a while. The murders were a means to the end.

The murders were a means to the end. It's reassuring that I know you say that in the context of your story *grin*. I'm behind on commenting on DtS, but think of it often - I think it was the week before last, when I was anticipating your posting and watching the episode, that I found myself thinking "but where are Sara and Ronnie?" I'm hooked, but you probably knew that already.

I wish they'd bring back at least the former! :D Thanks, glad you're enjoying it. It's rather cold-blooded to use the kids' deaths, but we knew H was, and writers have to be... *grin*
