Okay, along the order of "why hasn't anyone done this already", is there software out there that will work with a program such as iTunes and announce the title/artist/album of a given song when it's played?  For instance, sometimes I run a mix playlist over my stereo when I'm working around my home, and I don't want to run back to my computer or iPod to look up the information about a given song.

...Yeah, I probably don't have enough to do.  *snicker*

I've never heard of one, but if you do, let me know!

Also, high-five me babe. *huggles* I just got asked to moderate the YW.net chat :D

Whoohoo! *high-five* I saw your posts about it earlier, but hadn't time to comment! That is MARVELOUS.

Heh, I haven't done the chat in years, but perhaps I should drop in and ask a difficult question. ;P

XD! Hehe, I'm very happy about it. Means we'll probably get to have chat open more regularly, if it's 'officially' agreed that I can do it (it was Kathy's idea, and she says I should bug DD about it, so I've emailed her. ^_^)... Hee. And the Discworld con was awesome. You know they're having a North American one next year, right? I think it's in New England somewhere, but I forget exactly...

Ooooh, you would be evil like that, wouldn't you? ;D I love you anyway, you know.

Are you going to give me a 'five things' prompt, by the way? ;) I think you missed that post. I hope you're feeling a bit better than the last time we talked. *huggles you and the girls*

Heh, why would I go to Discworld if you weren't there? I don't like Terry Pratchett.

I saw your post, but honestly, I haven't had TIME. Between jet lag, muselash, and my boss leaving, I have put off way too many things as it is. I'm actually checking my e-mail periodically between furious cleaning (long story). I still have to do noms for the CSIFF awards, and I haven't even started.

So how're you??

Well, Diane's going to be there too... ;) I miss you! *huggles*

That's okay, hon. Whenever you have time is fine by me - I have been given a gigantic list of them to get through, so I may get to yours as soon as you get round to giving it to me, at this rate! Best of luck with all the busy-stuff.

I'm good. Mostly recovered from the sheer exhaustion I've more or less collapsed in for the past couple of days - I am not used to so much activity in such a short space of time with so little sleep! - and back up to getting on with things again. I've got two fanlistings to build within the week, had a choir practice tonight, and may have a potential girlfriend :) So things are good. How about you? Long story, you say? If you have time--

Oh, well then... :P

Glad you're doing okay, though! And that things are going well! Who's the lady?

Nah, just that I'm lazy and the place needed picking up because they might be in here tomorrow to check the pipes. *sigh* Nothing major.

Do you have a Mac?

Cause if so, Growl will be your bestest.friend.evah. I seriously love this program.

If not, you can always sign up for LastFm and download their scrobbling software. It'll track on your profile the list of songs you've just played. :)

I do have a Mac(book Pro), and I've heard of Growl, but I can't think of how it would be of use to me--I'm not even quite clear on what it does. *shrug* I'm very ignorant about such things. Thanks though!

Will LastFM speak to me? :D

Growl is a notifier. When someone signs in, you get a note on your screen from Adium or whatever chat program you use. If your downloads finish, you get a note. If your iTunes song changes, you get a note on your screen with the song name and artist. :) If your plug comes off, you get a note on your screen about it. And you can choose the type of notification; and there is the option for speech. :) I just tried it, and it's annoying as hell to have someone talk over the song. LOL

Maybe LastFM is better, because it'll just keep a list of your songs that you can go back to when you're by the computer and check.

Okay, I gave it a try...it doesn't quite work as advertised, but it is interesting to tinker with! Unfortunately I can only understand the voice half the time, but I think it's partly the fault of my speakers.

Thanks!
