Well, the fuss about LJ's layoffs is probably a tempest in a teapot.  Nonetheless, I'm taking the opportunity to break into WordPress; I've been pondering the idea for a while anyway, and it seems like fun so far. 

I'll just cross-post for the moment; I like the look of WordPress but I have way too many friends on LJ to give up on it unless something really drastic happens.

Ah, that's from Diane Duane's superb Young Wizard series, which is about a hundred times better than the covers make it look and which began twenty years before Harry Potter. Utterly wonderful writing and NOT just for teens. *grin* Yes, I'm a total fangirl. (And so's this icon.)

LJ's parent company apparently just laid off more than half its Stateside staff, causing an uproar among members. It appears to be not that big a deal, I'm mostly using it as an excuse.
