heh, Sexist, dated, forced in some scenes and yet occasionally memorable. Chet was the character I remembered best, not Mr. Downey or the two lead actors.

Weird Science. Huh. I'm kinda surprised you went there even for RDJ, considering your reaction to Soapdish:-). I remember WS as a heavily teen-male slanted fantasy that I didn't find very funny, though my BF loved it.

To be honest, all I knew was that it's considered something of an '80s classic, and that it involved boys creating a woman. I thought she was a robot until I saw it.

I have a whole class of movies called 'plot optional'. I usually watch these when I'm sick and so doped up on meds that I keep drifting in and out of consciousness - if you want to follow the plot, you can, but if you fall asleep you won't really have missed anything when you wake up.

I'm thinking that would account for the selection of Segal and Van Damme in my dvd collection. *snicker*

It *is* rather a train wreck... but I saw so v. many extremely bad movies in the late 70's and 80's that Weird Science barely registered on the Dreckometer.

I guess what makes me cringe the most about the movie, is I know what was going on in his personal life with drugs and it kind of creeps me out to watch RDJ in it.

That aside, the movie is all 12 year old boy and not much else, though fun for the "oh it's that guy/girl" moments. Especially Bill Paxton's role.
