Heather finally found the box in the garage, and checked it carefully for spiders as she unpacked it. When she brought the contents inside, Jim came over to look.
“Is she asleep?” Heather asked, and he nodded, raising inquisitive brows at the simply carved figurines she was laying out on the kitchen counter.
“It’s been in the family for generations,” Heather explained fondly, wiping dust from the crèche’s brace of diminutive oxen. “We used to set it up when Advent began.”
Jim smiled, and scooped up the tiny baby, setting it gently into the little manger. “Daisy will love it.”
