Spoilers within!

Until about a third of the way in, I thought this was going to be a very sad film.  But then things picked up, even if it could be subtitled "The Daddy Issues Version".

I laughed and laughed, though.  Seeing it with [livejournal.com profile] cincoflex  made it ten times the fun since we could whoop and snicker to each other in real-time.  It's a hoot and a great story, and it won my heart the moment Tony started playing around with the virtual display.  I want one.

It was wonderful to see Tony making all the emotional acknowledgments that he so steadfastly was refusing to make in the first film, and I seriously hope Pepper isn't resigning, because frankly she'll make a better CEO than Tony ever was.  I loved Happy having a bigger role and I am firmly in the Happy/Natasha shipping camp.  It's just OBVIOUS.

And, inured to disappointment in so many fandoms, I was firmly not expecting the kiss.  Ask [livejournal.com profile] cincoflex  what noise I made when it happened.  That was a gift I didn't think we'd get until at least the third film, if then.

The best part, though, was waiting for the theater to open with my best buddy, and cheerfully dissecting the film afterwards over crepes.  What is fandom, after all, but like minds and shared squeeing?  I've said it before, but it bears repeating; I meet the best people through fandom.

The kiss had been spoiled for me, as hard as I tried to avoid spoilers. I was pleased at how Pepper seemed to actually be a character in this film. It was like meeting comic!Pepper. That's not to say Gwyneth herself wasn't amazing in the first film, but rather that her character kind of seemed flat. In this second one, she's much more three-dimensional in that she has so many more levels of emotion. Also loved the realness that existed between hers and Tony's conversations.

I understand totally getting to share it with a good friend! I took my roommate who had not seen the first Iron Man until after she started living with me (and watched me huddle over the comics).

As for Happy/Natasha, I understand the sentiment but a lot of that is just that J-Fav and ScarJo are both so likable in the film. Happy was way adorable in general, and part of the reason Natasha was a fresh of breath air was because I honestly didn't have faith that ScarJo could pull off her epic kick-assness in the comics. I was definitely proved wrong. I can't even think of a time in the comic when he said two words with her, though I acknowledge the distinct difference between comic and film.

I need to see it again before I can settle on an opinion on Pepper. As Cinco said, the first viewing is for the overall picture, the second for the details. :P

Seeing more of Happy, as it were, was so much fun. I haven't read the comics, so my understanding of the Black Widow is pretty much restricted to Wikipedia, but I did enjoy her very much once I realized that her interest in Tony as a person was probably in the negative numbers...

Oh, I loved it so much. I want to see it again... and again. Lol. :)

I'm eagerly awaiting all the fanfiction that's going to come from this film, especially from you and Cincoflex. :D

Skipped most of your post because I don't want to be spoiled, but just wanted to say 'hi' and that I hope (and am sure) that you're having a great time!

Hope you'll be up for a repeat-viewing when you get back to the East Coast. ;)

We are having an amazing time, you are quite right! I'm sorry I didn't see you before I left, but I'm glad you're home safely.

Glad you liked it! I thought it was a fantastic movie and was laughing my ass off throughout. :D The Daddy bits played well and I totally didn't expect Happy/Natasha, but it was a brilliantly funny addition. And of course watching a narcissist stumble around trying to make emotional acknowledgments while Pepper was simultaneously blowing him off was great fun. Heheh.

I think the noise I made during the kiss was something between a choked squee, a cheer and a laugh. Hahahaha. *grin*

I don't think it's as tightly written as the first one, but it is SO much fun. Watching Tony twitch all over Pepper's office is not to be missed. And I love the cockatoo.

I'm too used to the CSI GSR. Nine bloody years to get a kiss. It's such a surprise to get one after a year and a half!

Frankly I thought it was good fun. I loved the Natasha character, even though Pepper cut her off once or twice in some slightly green eyed emotional bursts(which later Pepper likely thought-what the hell am I doing?!), I never thought she had her claws out for Tony. You know, what I really liked seeing?, more of his bedroom. I'm sorry but that looked like one man's den I would love to explore ;)
Tony has the best toys and the scene where he discovers what his father had left for him to unravel was the best.
The kiss-I had no idea until the other day when I slipped and found a spoiler(which I tried to avoid). Once he got her up on the roof after the rescue, you could almost see the emotional pull and spark happening, Rhodey being there-just too funny!
Hey, wasn't there some leak by Jon about Tony having a dream about Pepper in some slinky outfit or something rather uh 'dirty'.
Must see this again!

Yeah, there's a few scenes that didn't make it in--one of which, I think, would have explained Pepper's jealousy a bit more. You might have seen it in one of the trailers--Tony showing Natasha how to use the gauntlet. If that was prior to the party...

So my son took me to see Ironman 2 for mother's day and I really enjoyed it. I didn't get to see the first movie on the big screen so this one was a lot of fun. I liked Tony alot better this time. It's good to see Robert Downey Jr doing well.

Now that's a good son! :D It is good to see Mr. Downey doing well, yes--it seems that keeping busy works for him. I hope it continues so!

I quite enjoyed it myself.
I didn't expect the kiss either.

I would love to see it with you before it leave the theater.

I am with you on the Happy/Natasha love although that was not in the comic - I am cool with it.

Yes, we must do a mass viewing! Is it playing at an IMAX around here? :D

Apparently in the comic she's in love with Fury, but it sure didn't look like it on the screen...

I looked up all the IMAX theaters and it looks like the only one is the AMC in Alexandria. It looks like it will still be on IMAX next week. :)
(10:00 am) 1:00 pm 4:05 pm 7:00 pm 10:00 pm are the showings.

Yeah, she is, but I didn't think the films would go there after they cast Jackson as Fury.
Just like they don't really go into Stark's prolonged drinking problem.

I think they're planning on tipping a hat to the alcoholism in #3, but that's not for a while...
