The artificial Christmas tree was clearly not new, and the cramped flat smelled of cigarette smoke and stale air.  But the decorations were cheerful, and there was palpable hope in the limp stocking hung over the radiator.

He tiptoed down the hall to the bedroom, ignoring its clutter and pinkness.  The blonde girl asleep under the quilt made him smile fondly.

He retraced his steps through the door in the wall, reappearing a moment later to place the unwrapped gift next to the tree.

The door closed; the wheeze and grind faded; the bicycle gleamed red in the Christmas lights.

(I'm not a fan of the New Who, but I have long felt that Santa Claus must be a Timelord...)

Oh yes, I agree with you about the Timelord part--and this was very sweet!

Delightful! I loved that throwaway line in the series and this definitely does it justice! *grins madly*

And really, Santa being a Time Lord neatly answers the question of how Santa is able to deliver gifts all around the world in one night. :D

Thank you for this adorable moment.

Doesn't it, though? XD Not to mention how they all fit in the sleigh, and the hundreds of years he's been doing it...

Thanks!!
