Today's ficlet is from the wonderful, deeply underappreciated TV movie Plymouth. It's available on YouTube, in sections, and I recommend it most highly; it's very well-done sci-fi and would have made an amazing series. Hey, if you're going to set a show on the Moon, you can do much worse than have a real astronaut in the cast!
Fans of Joseph Gordon-Levitt may take note that this was one of his early roles. But I dare you to recognize him. *grin*

Wendell looked across the tables set in the dome’s garden, at the familiar faces. He knew every one by name, by heart; while he wouldn’t be their mayor for much longer, the responsibilities and privileges were still his. Some had never been held by any other mayor in humankind’s whole history.
The town was silent, bar the rush of the waterfall, as they waited.
“We’re all together again,” he said to them. “My friends, we remember the Infant Jesus tonight--and celebrate each other.” He lifted his weighted glass. “Christmas always comes, even on the Moon.”
The cheers rang true.
