The ferals are back!  At least two of them, anyway.

I haven't seen them since last autumn at the latest; they just stopped showing up for food in the evenings and I refused to pile the stuff and just leave it.  I thought something had happened to them; sad, but that's life on the edge.

But yesterday I heard someone meowing outside my window, and lo and behold, it was Dusty!  Who definitely remembered me.  Heck, he was calling for me.  I, of course, fed him.  And when I got home last night he was lurking pointedly in the bush next to the door, ditto.

Tonight I went out to see if he was around, and the first one to turn up when I called was Fluffernutter, who is clearly incubating the next kitten crop (alas).  She too remembered me, but she should; she has to be at least five or six by now, if not older.  And then Dusty turned up too.

Guess I need to buy more cat food...

A story as only life can write it! That sounds so...magic.

It almost is--Fluffernutter's old for a feral by now.

Nomads, returning from the journey! Rush out there and get that tuna-flavored manna to them, heehee!

Can you do a trap/ spay / release and help stop the kitten crops? I know that's what we do to feral colonies here.

I very much wish I could, but I have a small apartment with an elderly cat of my own, and no car--so nowhere to put them and no way to transport them.

I'm glad that the kitties have survived the winter. You are a good hearted person. I was feeding a feral for a little while but I haven't seen her for awhile. It was such a hard cold winter here I felt like I had to help. I lost one of my indoor cats 2 weeks ago. I really don't know why except that she was an older cat. On tuesday night she was sitting in my lap eating cheese and then the next evening I realized that I hadn't seen her all day. I went looking for her and found her tucked away in a little corner of the basement dead. Her sister is still with us but we are down to 4 when sw used to have 8. I hope the year goes well for you. anne ruhland
