vr_trakowski: (write)

Those of us who post fanfic occasionally find that a story we are particularly proud of can be of little interest, while conversely something hastily scribbled can be quite popular.  I posted one story last week on three different sites and have received no comments whatsoever on it.  It's the first time this has happened in eleven years, and I kind of expected it the last time.

Granted, it's a pairing with a small fandom and it's a crossover, which makes it weirder; and I did get a kudo on AO3, which was nice.  No one's under obligation to read anything, let alone comment.  But I confess myself disappointed.  I thought I did a decent job with it.

Oh well, I had fun writing it, to be sure.  *shrug*  And it's not like my readers haven't been consistently generous and kind, all along!

Those of you on the storm track, hatch your battens, bat your hatchings, and keep your heads down.  I'm staying home to guard my books.

I wish I could offer more than a simple "You DO write amazing things!" but it's true. The fact that the audience for your story hasn't found it yet is disappointing, true, but someone out there is going to find it, I have faith. Your writing brings all the readers to the 'Net, trust me!

(((hugs)))

Thank you, dearest! *hugs back* It may ripen in time, I know.

I love that you're posting some of your "classics" on AO3 ("Mnemosyne's Lock", anyone?) and I confess that HP fanfiction and Labyrinth both fly completely under my radar.

And your Molly Hooper fic was no less than brilliant. XD

No worries! And thank you. :D That one was just fun.

It seems self-indulgent to repost, but I like the multiple archiving bit.

I call it the Facebook effect. People have become so used to just "liking" something, they no longer bother to leave comments. It's sad and hopefully will go away once Facebook dies off.

But, you are an amazing writer. Don't doubt that for a moment!

*blush* Coming from you, that's an especially lovely compliment!

It's quite possible, yes. AO3 is good for that too with the "kudos" function. Ah well, it's probably good for me. :P
