Well, not here here yet, but!  The Starman TV series is out on DVD!

*insert many undignified noises here*

Amazon has it, apparently under print on demand.  Not ideal, but since the only versions I've seen are old VCR recordings put up on YouTube in pieces (and all honor to the person who did so), I'll take it.

I'm not sure this show ever even made it into reruns, but it was a mostly worthy successor to the original film--Robert Hays is a genius with the role--and is one of my 2.5 exceptions to my "you can't put an entirely different actor in the same role and expect me to believe it's the same person, you twit" rule (one of the several reasons I don't watch any of the Stargate series despite adoring the film.  Bantha!).  I recommend it highly, though it does reek of the '80s.  And the DVDs should be in my hot little hands tomorrow.

First Max Headroom, now this.  If they'd put out The Wizard, I could die happy.

I'm finally getting around to watching last week's CSI.

Sara laughed.  Eleven seasons, and she finally laughed out loud!

...there's something to be said for walking up the wrong side of the road just to find dried thistle blossoms so I can blow the fluff, and watch it dance ahead of me in the lowering sun.  As fun as bubbles, and it lasts longer, though it's a good deal more prickly.

Last night, as I was leaving my parents' house in the dark, I realized that there was something perched on Mom's birdfeeder.  I took a closer look, expecting a rat, only to see...something I'd never seen before, at least in the fur, as it were.  It had a much blunter muzzle than a rat, and the bulgy eyes of a night creature; it was a neat gray on top and white on the bottom and, perhaps most strikingly, it displayed no alarm at all about our presences, even with the flashlight and the car engine.  It merely went on calmly helping itself to hulled sunflower seeds.

Due to the lack of fear, my father theorized that it was an escaped exotic pet, but I did some quick research online, and sugar gliders are stripey, which this wasn't.  We have tentatively concluded that it was a Southern flying squirrel, which is found throughout the state but usually in forests.  Possibly hand-raised, which could explain the blasé attitude.  Or maybe we just didn't qualify as threats for some reason.

Mom and I, at least, were delighted to find a new visitor, though she's a little put off by the fact that they eat eggs and sometimes nestlings.  I have to add, in the patois of Cute Overload, that it was anerable.  *grin*

I have a COMPUTER again.  Thanks to someone wonderful, who shall remain nameless here unless she says otherwise, since I don't want to violate her privacy.  She found me a lovely used laptop and some other marvelous goodies, and last night I actually booted up and transferred files from my iPod's hard drive and...oooooohhhh...it's all there!  I can write at home again!  I can type!  I can look up files and favorite fic and recipes and photos and info!  I can cuddle a keyboard on my lap and rattle away!

Even better, I can take it with me when I go on vacation--after all, there are those plane rides, and of course leisure time....

Thank you, thank you, thank you.  You are a miracle worker.  And it was even more of a delight to talk with you and discover how many things we both liked.  As I've said before, and no doubt will say again, I meet the greatest people through fandom.
