Walking Dead = Zombie Soap Opera.

The acting's sterling, the special effects fittingly nauseating, the writing spotty.  Having blown through both seasons, I find myself shaking my head over how many tricks these people are missing.

The dead can't climb.  Hammocks!  Platforms!  Tree houses!

Can the dead swim?  I seriously doubt it.  Islands!  Houseboats!

Not to mention, they drove away from the highway site leaving behind the supplies.

Seriously, people.  You keep talking about thinking in survival mode, but you're stuck in the same old patterns.

Hollywood writers are pretty dumb when it comes to survival situations. Someone made me sit down and watch an episode of "Jericho." They were freaking out because they had no water - as they were surrounded by several feet of snow.

Once, I re-watched "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer" series while I had the flu. I didn't get too far before realizing that vampires are silly villains. They only come out at night, can't come in unless invited and can be destroyed by any number of means. So simple to handle if you think logically.

I never could take Buffy seriously. But then, I find Daleks equally silly--they're ridiculously fragile and one can sometimes destroy one just by working it into a frenzy.

Cybermen, now, those are scary.

It was an impossible show to take seriously, but I never struck me before how unscary vampires are.

I just discovered that the Kolchak, The Night Stalker series (the original) is on Youtube. We used to stay up late watching this show back when I was a kid, and we loved it. In some ways, it doesn't hold up well. It's not scary, but some of it is still very unique. I'm trying to get through "The Werewolf" episode now, and while it's considered one of the best, the cheesy 70's swingers annoy me to no end! :D

Cinco likes that one, but I never saw it. It's amazing what gets put back up, isn't it? :D And they say there's no market for the older stuff...

She has good taste! ;-)

Richard Matheson was involved with the original 2 Kolchak TV movies (both on Youtube) but I don't think he had anything to do with the series. I know the first one was the most watched TV movie in history at that point.

If you get a chance, you should watch some of it. The writing is incredible at times - Kolchak and his boss had some of the best exchanges! It helped that both actors were excellent.
