Jan. 29th, 2008 07:17 pmI've had a cold since last Saturday (more than a week ago). A day of mild fever, then sneezing and fatigue and a runny noes. Fine, I haven't had a cold since Provence last year, I'm probably due.
Yesterday I started coughing, which really wears me out, and the cough suppressant wasn't working as well as I hoped.
Today I was exhausted (not enough sleep when one wakes up coughing) but I felt so bad that I barely made it home, and my poor ferals got dry food and just a few pats. Now I'm running a 101-degree fever, I have the chills whenever I stand up, and I cannot stop coughing despite a full dose of suppressant.
Bloody heck, I think I have the flu. It's only been, oh, almost ten years. November '99.
I'm surprised I'm coherent enough to type this, given that one of my symptoms of exhaustion is aural hallucinations. But then, I'm having to backspace more than usual.
So--don't expect to hear much from me (unless, which I devoutly hope, I'm wrong). I'll try to get Down to Sleep up on Thursday but no promises. *sigh*
You all stay well, now.

Date: 2008-01-30 02:14 am (UTC)Best remedy I know for the flu (or a cold):
Cambell's plain Chicken Noodle soup (which for some odd reason works better than other brands, or even other versions of Cambell's) -- at least if you're not a vegetarian...
Fresh squeezed orange juice (or oranges)
and plenty of sleep
Best remedies I know for a persistent cough:
Hot Camomile or Mint Tea with a good dose (3+Tablespoons) of honey and an equal amount of lemon juice
Gargling with warm salt water followed by a shot of Drambuie also works pretty well... but I prefer the taste of the first, myself.
Hope this helps! Feel well soon!

Not that either are pleasant.
