I am suddenly envisioning the cast of Blake's 7 in the roles of Inception.

Blake as Dom, of course, and Avon as Arthur.  The tormented hero and the cynical, organized companion.

Servalan as Mal; she was even a mother in canon, if briefly.

Cally as Ariadne, I think; the outsider introduced to a new culture, a bit innocent, but possessing skills the others don't have or can't match.  Dayna is more a fit in age, but she's just too single-minded.

And, inevitably, Vila as Eames, though he hasn't a noticeable talent for disguise.  Still, he'd supply the witticisms and the cool interest, the necessary foil to the intensity and the pragmatism.

Alas, there's no place to put the others--Jenna and Zen and Orac and Gan and Dayna and Tarrant and Soolin, though Travis could easily play a Cobol thug.  Nor is there an immediate match for Miles or Saito.  Or are there?  It's been so long since I watched the series...

"Other people's property comes naturally to me."  Tell me you can't hear that coming out of Eames' mouth.

Oh well

I wanted to vote in the Inception Awards for fanfic--I nominated some stories.  But the rules require a minimum of votes for a given category--and I haven't read that many of the nominated stories in any of the categories, let alone enough to choose among.  I simply haven't had the time or attention to spare.

I guess I can see why it's being done, an effort to make it less of a popularity contest.  But it feels weird to me.

The mod says that they aren't getting enough votes...I wonder if that's why.

Now, you all know I don't do slash, but this is very light on the slashiness, and the brilliance and sheer amusement factor outweighs any detriment for me.  [livejournal.com profile] scrie's The World as We Know It is an Inception/Reign of Fire crossover--yes, it is, and don't let the unashamed badness of the latter put you off. This is fun, well-written, and hilarious without being parody.  The Inception cast reacts pretty much as you might expect on finding themselves in the Reign of Fire setting, and the last line is perfect.

Plus it has Eames in a tank.  How could I resist?  :P

[livejournal.com profile] cincoflex's The Tutor is just not getting the love it deserves.  Okay, it's early days yet at one chapter so far, but it is Eames to an absolute, smoking T, and it's only going to get better from here on out.  Trust me, I've read ahead.  *wicked grin*  So go read.  Her LJ or FF.net, and for mature audiences only!

P.S.  If you haven't seen Inception yet, you should-- *ahem* --there are spoilers for the film, but so far at least one can read without really losing anything.  However, it'll make more sense if you wait until you have seen it.

I have been drowning in story for the past week or so.  Inception is pulling the same number on me that Iron Man did, though I doubt as much will spin out of it; nevertheless, writing until I can't keep my eyes open is having a really detrimental effect on keeping my living room floor open.

Gracious, I'm having fun, though.  *grin*

I must add that I am extremely fortunate in that [livejournal.com profile] cincoflex  loved the movie too.  Our parallels in our respective stories are getting a bit scary, but how I laughed last night at the latest one...

By the way, if you haven't seen Inception yet (and you don't mind some action) I recommend it strongly.  Wow.  If nothing else, the idea is fresh and the characters are very well done.
