I was so disappointed that the Easter egg at the end of the film was the Avengers eating shawarma and looking uncomfortable, instead of said scene with Coulson. I know Whedon likes to kill off characters we love, but I may have to hunt him down and smack him if he's *really* killed Phil off (and manages to make it stick with the Marvel Studios people).
The scene that sprang to my mind was Fury, turning to the startled-looking medics who are still working on Coulson and saying something along the lines of, "What? Yes, I lied. Now you just make sure it *stays* a lie." And then goes off grumbling about how Coulson's really going to be pissed off at the next thing he's going to have to do to sell the thing.
It wasn't a scene, sorry. It was a fanart sketch, and I zipped past it because I hadn't seen the film yet. Now I can't remember where it was (besides Tumblr somewhere), and I can't find it.
Yes, I saw that one and I agree with you! It's not the right one--the one I'm thinking of is black and white, and better drawn, and he's alone and smiling.

Not a very good likeness of our Phil (or of Nick Fury, for that matter). And Coulson isn't smiling. The attribution is to someone going by "palalife".
