I was so disappointed that the Easter egg at the end of the film was the Avengers eating shawarma and looking uncomfortable, instead of said scene with Coulson. I know Whedon likes to kill off characters we love, but I may have to hunt him down and smack him if he's *really* killed Phil off (and manages to make it stick with the Marvel Studios people).
The scene that sprang to my mind was Fury, turning to the startled-looking medics who are still working on Coulson and saying something along the lines of, "What? Yes, I lied. Now you just make sure it *stays* a lie." And then goes off grumbling about how Coulson's really going to be pissed off at the next thing he's going to have to do to sell the thing.
